There are two document fields on your Lantum account called Reference 1 and Reference 2. These fields are for two clinical references, provided by GPs you are currently working with or have previously worked for within the last 3 years. The two referees must be a GP, GP Partner, GP Trainer/Supervisor or Doctor Clinical Lead.
Below are the requirements the Clinical Governance Team will look for to be able to approve your references to your account:
- Dated within the last 3 years
- Must make reference to your clinical knowledge/skills, professionalism and communication with both patients and colleagues within the last 3 years - we cannot accept merely factual references
- Signed/stamped by your clinical referees*
- State the clinical referee's profession/current job title and GMC number
*If the reference has been written in an email, please make sure we can see that the clinical referee has sent it from an NHS or healthcare organisation email account
Non-Clinical references from referees such as Practice Managers or other staff types not mentioned above, will not be approved as they need to be able to comment on your clinical work/capabilities.
You can use our blank clinical reference ProForma to forward to your clinical referees. This can be found at the bottom of the page in PDF and MS Word Document formats.
Please note that you will still need to include details of your clinical referees and their professional work email addresses on your CV regardless if you have approved clinical references on your account, e.g. name, job title and doctors.org.uk, nhs.net or a healthcare organisation email address. Their details must be included so Practice Managers/employers can contact your referees if more information is needed.
For more information about CVs, please read through our CV FAQs.
