What is GP bank?
A GP bank is a pool of GPs who can view and book into sessions with particular practices.
It allows a practice to manage all their relationships with local GPs in one place. As a GP that’s part of a bank, it makes it easier to find sessional work.
GP banks are beneficial for both GPs and practices:
- GPs can search and book into sessions in the local area with their favourite practices
- Practices can view GPs within their pool and send them requests to fill shift gaps
What is a GP bank doctor?
If you have accepted an invitation from a practice to work with them on Lantum, you’ll be added to their GP bank.
As a result, your profile and other information will be available for the practice to view - this includes the governance documents you have uploaded and been approved on Lantum.
Why am I part of a bank?
You are part of a GP bank because you would have been invited by a practice to join Lantum.
How do I find out what GP banks I’m a part of?
To see which GP banks you are part of:
- Login to your Lantum profile
- Click on ‘Find Work’ at the top of your profile
- Click on ‘Practices I follow’
- Here you will find the GP banks you are a part of, as well as any practices you choose to follow
- If you are not sure you can get in touch with our support team and they will be able to advise.
What is the difference between a staff bank and a collaborative staff bank?
- A staff bank is a pool of GPs that an individual practice can invite to fill shift gaps.
- A collaborative staff bank is a pool of GPs that all practices within a federation or practice group can invite to fill shift gaps.
As a GP, if you are in either of these banks, you can browse and apply in to any posted sessions once your account has been approved.
How do I join a collaborative staff bank?
If you are invited to join Lantum in one of the following ways, you are added to a collaborative staff bank:
- Direct invitation from a federation or practice group
- If you’re in the GP bank of a practice that joins a federation already using Lantum
When you join a collaborative staff bank, your profile becomes automatically visible to every practice within the collaborative group. One of the benefits of this is it gives you more scope to find sessional work in your area.
Why am I receiving requests from a practice I haven’t worked with on Lantum before?
If you’re receiving requests from a practice you haven’t worked with before, it’s because you are part of a collaborative staff bank on Lantum.
How is my account changing?
Your account on Lantum will not change but you might notice the following new activity:

But, this doesn’t mean that any practice can view your information and contact you. The only way a practice can contact you is if:
- you are part of their bank
- you have worked with them previously, and/or
- you have applied for a session with a practice.
What is the benefit of the bank?
The main benefits of being part of a bank are:
- You have access to more available sessions that are local to you
- You can grow a professional network of practices in your area
- You will receive more session cover requests
Where can I find jobs from my banks?
