IMPORTANT NOTE: We only carry out DBS applications for GPs and Practice Nurses/Advanced Nurse Practitioners. If you are a GP, please click here.
This page is for an enhanced DBS certificate. There are 5 simple mandatory steps required to apply for a DBS. We will only be able to submit your application after each of these steps are completed, which are:
- Returning to us your completed application consent form
- Filling out the online application on the Disclosure Services website
- Booking an ID check
- Completing the £64 payment for your new DBS check
- Attending an ID check
Further details on how to complete each of these steps are outlined below, as well as information on the DBS Update Service.
How to get started
1. Send us your applicant consent form
Please fill out the DBS Applicant Consent Form (this can also be downloaded at the bottom of this FAQ page)
- answer the questions
- sign and date the document
- email this across (attach, scan or photo) to the Clinical Governance team at clinical.governance@lantum.com
2. Complete the Disclosure Services application
After you have sent us your applicant consent form you will receive an email invitation from Disclosure Services to complete.
Please take a look at the tutorial created by Disclosure Services to help when submitting the online application:
IMPORTANT - Please note that Disclosure Services will now begin rejecting applications that contain any incorrect information.
Examples include:
- First and surnames being entered the wrong way round
- Spelling mistakes or special characters used (e.g. accents)
- Incorrect address or house number entered
- Incorrect city/county of birth entered
It is very important to check over all of the details of your Disclosure Services application before submitting it. If your application is rejected for any reason, you will need to start a brand new application.
3. Book ID check
All DBS ID checks must be completed over video call with a member of our Clinical Governance Team.
Click here to book your 15 minute ID check
Once you have booked an ID check, you will receive a confirmation email with details on how to join the video call via Google Meet. Please make sure you have a strong WI-FI connection and a device that has a good camera so we can verify your original documents during the call. If you are joining the video call on a laptop or computer, you just click the meeting link. If you are using a mobile phone, you will need to download the Google Meet app prior to your appointment.
Please note that our office hours are Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm.
Please ensure that we can clearly see your original ID documents during the call. This means we cannot accept online printed bank statements unless they are stamped in branch by your bank and no documents displayed on a phone/computer screen.
4. Completing the £64 payment for your new DBS check
The enhanced DBS certificate costs £64 per application*
GoCardless is a secure bank to bank transfer app, making the one-off GoCardless payment will not set up a direct debit.
Click Here to Make Your Payment
Please make the payment before your ID check, otherwise we will not be able to submit your DBS application to Disclosure Services.
If you are having trouble making a payment through GoCardless, please contact the Clinical Governance Team at clinical.governance@lantum.com
*This does not include the DBS Update Service fee

When the checks are completed, we can submit your application internally, and we will email you to let you know when the certificate is on its way. We will also include your certificate number and information you need, if you wish to link your new DBS to the Update Service.
------
On average, an enhanced DBS application through Lantum can take between 2 days and 3 weeks to be processed by the Disclosure and Barring Service. However, please note that the Disclosure and Barring Service has the right to keep your application for up to 90 days if they need to.
Unfortunately, as the process is in the hands of the Disclosure and Barring Service, it cannot be accelerated by Lantum.
Your enhanced DBS certificate will be posted directly to your address listed on the application after processing. Once you have received the original certificate, please take a clear photograph/scan of the first full page and upload it onto your Lantum account.

DBS Update Service
Applying for a new DBS can be a bit of a headache. Thankfully, there is service which means you can keep your DBS updated for £13 (price increases to £16 from 2nd December 2024) a year. The catch is that you have to apply for this within 30 days of getting a new DBS. You can sign up at the following:
https://secure.crbonline.gov.uk/crsc/apply?execution=e1s1
When you have registered, this means you can
- Take your certificate from one job to the next
- Give employers permission to check your certificate online, and see who has checked it
- Add or remove a certificate.
You will get an ID number with your registration that you need to log on to the service. Only one certificate will ever be needed.
Additionally, you can use the certificate number on the top of your new DBS certificate to apply, but you must apply within 30 days of your certificate issue date.
We recommend you use a reliable payment method as the Update Service has a yearly fee. If you do not pay the fee, you will have to apply for a new DBS certificate.
Please note, the Update Service does not keep a copy of your original certificate and only gives a brief overview of whether anything has changed. Therefore, the original certificate is still needed alongside the Update Service to show what information was included in the original check. For example, all 5 fields were requested.

Cancellation Policy
Applicants will have a period of 6 weeks from the date they receive an email from Disclosure Services inviting them to begin their application to submit their application, and complete their video ID call.
If these steps are not completed within the 6 week period, then the application will be cancelled and a new one must be started if you still wish to apply for a new DBS certificate.
If you require longer than 6 weeks to complete your application, please email clinical.governance@lantum.com and we will be happy to make arrangements with you directly.
