There are two document fields on your profile called 'Reference 1' and 'Reference 2'.
These fields are for two clinical references, provided by GPs you have previously worked for or currently work with.
The two referees must be a GP, GP partner/trainer or Clinical Lead (Doctor) who have agreed to provide references relating to your clinical work during recent or current posts within the last 3 years.
If you already have clinical references, or are easily able to provide these yourself, please upload them to the two reference fields on your profile.
Below are the requirements the Clinical Governance team will look for to be able to approve your references:
- Dated within the last 3 years
- Signed/stamped by your clinical referees
- State the clinical referee's profession and GMC number
- Must make reference to your clinical knowledge/skills, professionalism and communication with both patients and colleagues (we cannot accept merely factual references)
Alternatively, you can provide the Clinical Governance team with details of your two clinical referees, making sure you have their consent as we will contact them on your behalf. Please include at the end of your CV before uploading this to your profile, details of your referees' and their professional work email addresses, e.g. doctors.org.uk or nhs.net email addresses. This is to help us ensure that your referees are also qualified doctors and so we will not accept personal email addresses.
We will email your referees our own clinical reference form, which will then be uploaded to the 'Reference 1' and 'Reference 2' fields on your profile when they returned.
Please note that the quickest way to get your references returned is to advise your referees to look out for our emails, as these can sometimes be missed, e.g. spam/junk mail.
